Brian D. Stempien Insurance Law

Brian focuses his practice in the areas of insurance defense litigation, special insurance investigations and subrogation. Brian is an effective and experienced advocate, who has achieved success for his clients at trial and argued numerous complicated issues with significant importance for Kentucky insurance law. Brian grew up in Connecticut, and completed his undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University, receiving a Bachelors of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering in 1999 and receiving a commission as an officer in the Marine Corps upon graduation. After leaving active duty, Brian received his law degree from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, graduating summa cum laude. While in law school, Brian was a member of the most successful National Moot Court Team in school history, an editor on the Law Review, served as a student member of the Brandeis Inn of Court, and spent a year teaching Constitutional law to seniors at Louisville’s Central High School. Brian is also currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. After college, Brian finished at the top of his class from flight school and was designated a naval aviator in September of 2001. Brian has served as an AH-1W attack helicopter pilot in both the active and reserve components. While on active duty, Brian completed an extended deployment to Japan as well as two deployments to Al Anbar Province, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. Brian and his wife, Sarah (a Louisville native), have four children with another on the way in December of 2016
