Cheryl L. Walsh opened the first Elder Law division at the Law Office of Stein, Hanger, Levine and Young in 1993. Later, she founded the Law Office of Cheryl L. Walsh in 1995 in Simi Valley, California, which she moved to San Juan Capistrano, California in 1997.
As a 1991 graduate of Loyola Law School, she has served on the Board of Directors of the Ventura County Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Speaker’s Bureau of the Los Angeles County Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, and served on the Board of Directors of the Elder Law Section of the Orange County Bar Association since 2003.
Ms. Walsh has been the principal speaker for various organizations including Senior Centers throughout Ventura, Los Angeles and Orange Counties, Continuing Education Training for Nurses at St. Joseph’s and Seventh Day Adventist Hospitals, Assisted Living Facilities, Caregiver Conferences and Financial Management Training Seminars. She has worked as a volunteer for the Gray Law program in the City of Ventura.
In 2004, Ms. Walsh drafted and presented proposed legislation providing a property tax benefit to Seniors Living in Senior Living Complexes. The Bill was sponsored by Senator John Campbell and Ms. Walsh testified before the Revenue and Taxation Committee in Sacramento in support of it.
Ms. Walsh has successfully argued before the Fourth District Court of Appeals in the area of Medi-Cal Estate Recovery. She has successfully handled Elder Abuse Litigation as well as other litigation affecting her elderly clients. Her experience ranges from hearings before the Department of Motor Vehicles to Property Tax Appeals for her clients. She has continued to work for various clients and their families since her office was founded in 1995.
