Claudia W. Englisby is the Owner and Principal Attorney of the Windsor-based law firm, Disability Planning Partners, Inc. DPP is a boutique, private law firm focused on special needs planning, estate planning, elder law, disability planning, probate matters involving Guardianships and Conservators, and trust administration.

Claudia earned her Master of Law in Elder Law and Estate Planning from Western New England University School of Law, where she also completed her Juris Doctorate degree. This advanced degree cloaks her with the legal planning skills necessary to craft strategic disability plans and estate plans. Additionally, she represents clients in conservatorships, guardianships, probate matters, and trust administration. She serves as a Trustee of a various trusts including but not limited to special needs trusts, asset protection trusts, and living trusts.

Disability Planning uses special needs trusts as a component of an overall life-care plan for individuals who are aging, have intellectual and developmental disabilities, progressive health conditions which lead to disability, and those with catastrophic injuries. This planning offers legal solutions to maintain private resources while accessing benefit programs which aim to foster independence through services and supports for individuals with disabilities and their families.

Through a family member’s catastrophic stroke in the early years of Claudia’s legal career, she resolved to focus her career on legal planning solutions to assist individuals with disabilities and elders to plan for life’s major transitions, both expected and unexpected. Through this experience, she learned that planning solutions require engagement with families beyond a singular transaction. Preparing legal plans for clients, her work is often peppered with a family’s personal dynamics, which she welcomes with understanding and support. Claudia helps pave the path to a new normal for the present day, and the days ahead.

Outside the office, Claudia serves as a Co-Chair of the Estate and Elder Law section of The Hartford County Bar Association.
