Dean began his legal career in the late '90s. Prior to joining Seyfarth, Dean was a founding partner and chair of Fanelli Haag PLLC. Fanelli Haag was a leading intellectual property boutique law firm focused on issues facing the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries. Fanelli Haag joined Seyfarth in October 2016. Prior to founding Fanelli Haag, Dean was in private practice in the Washington, DC, office of an international law firm, where his work focused primarily on patent prosecution and counseling of clients in the pharmaceutical, chemical, veterinary, consumer products, and nutritional industries. Dean gained additional experience in strategic patent management and licensing, while seconded in-house with an international pharmaceutical drug-delivery company, and while at a major consumer product company. Dean has a hands-on approach to anticipating and meeting his clients' needs. His articles have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and he has given presentations and published articles on different topics related to intellectual property throughout the world.
