Denzil D. McKenzie Wills and Trust Law

Attorney McKenzie has engaged in the practice of law since 1976. He began his career as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, followed by a brief tenure with Boston University as Associate Grants and Contracts Administrator and Assistant Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs. Thereafter, he served as Vice President and General Counsel to B & M Technological Services, Inc., a Cambridge-based engineering research and development company. Since 1988, he has been a principal with McKenzie & Associates, PC. Attorney McKenzie’s practice includes serving as outside counsel to small and mid-sized business and non-profit organizations in the areas of media, technology, healthcare, human services, housing, banking and finance, and consulting over forty religious congregations. His clients are located throughout the New England, mid-Atlantic and Mid-western States. Attorney McKenzie is a graduate of Boston University School of Law, where he also studied tax law in the Boston University Graduate Tax Program. He received his degree in Political Science and Economics, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Attorney McKenzie is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, where he is a member of the Standing Committee on Client Protection; Boston University School of Law Alumni Association, where he is Vice President; the Massachusetts Family and Probate American Inn of Court, where he is the President-Elect; and the Clients’ Security Board of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, where he serves as Treasurer. He is the recipient of many awards and citations, including the U.S. Small Business Association’s Minority Businessperson of the Year, 1986 (shared with William V. Benjamin); runner-up for U.S. Department of Defense Minority Supplier of the Year, 1986, (shared with William V. Benjamin); the Chancellor’s award for Service to Massachusetts Public Higher Education. He is recognized as one of the best lawyers in Boston and was named on Boston Magazine’s Super Lawyers’ list in 2004, 2005 and 2006. On September 16, 2011, Attorney McKenzie was appointed by the Government of Jamaica as its Honorary Consul to Massachusetts. Attorney McKenzie is a member of the bars of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, the United States Tax Court, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the First United States Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Attorney McKenzie’s practice includes Business Law, Civil Litigation in all courts and Probate and Estate Planning. He has also developed a subspecialty in representing college and university presidents on contractual and compensation matters.
