Douglas R. York is a native Houstonian who graduated from Spring Woods High School. He was always interested in law enforcement and earned a degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University while working part-time as a jailer with the Walker County Sheriff’s Department. For 18 years after graduation he served as a police officer, first with the Huntsville, TX, Police Department and then with the Houston Police Department. As a policeman, Doug found himself dealing all too often with family disputes. He also testified frequently in court and observed the workings of the judicial system with growing interest. He finally decided he could do more good as a lawyer, earned his law degree from South Texas College of Law, and began his second career as a family lawyer 17 years ago. Doug’s experience as a police officer encourages him to represent his clients with passionate commitment. But he also welcomes the opportunity to help his clients, give them support, and ease their way forward during what is, for many, one of the most intense crises of their lives.
