HOLLIS McCRAY-CLARK, ESQ.
Hollis McCray-Clark is a trial attorney in General Practice, licensed to practice law in California (1989) and Pennsylvania (1985). Previously, Hollis has practiced Criminal Defense, Civil Litigation, Family Law and Intellectual Property, in CA for over 20 years, with her law partner and late husband, Charles H. Clark, Jr, Esq. Hollis currently works as a solo practitioner.
They practiced under the firm name of Law Offices of Clark and McCray-Clark. Hollis and law partner Charles, handled and won cases for three defendants, caught up in the "Rampart Scandal Cases," that "Rocked" L. A., some time ago. Innocent individuals were selected, setup, suffered Felony convictions and jailed, for crimes they did not commit.
The California State Bar appointed Hollis McCray-Clark to become a Commissioner on the CA State Bar Judicial Nominees Evaluation (JNE) Commission. Commission members "evaluate judges and lawyers" nominated by the Governor to become judges on the Superior (trial courts), Appellate and CA Supreme Court.
For eight years, Hollis has served, as Chair of the National Bar Association’s (NBA’s) Entertainment, Sports and Art Law (ESA) Section, as well as, on the NBA’s Board of Governor’s during the same period.
Hollis has received her Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Illinois College of Law, in Champaign, IL. Hollis obtained her B.A. Degree, in Political Science, from Rutgers University, in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
After graduating from Law School, Hollis worked as an Advisory Attorney for the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, in Harrisburg, PA. She later worked at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, in the General Counsel’s division, upon her arrival in Los Angeles, CA. Thereafter, as a Deputy Public Defender for the Office of Public Defender of Los Angeles County, prior to starting the firm, with her husband, the Law Offices of Clark and McCray-Clark.
Hollis has a unique background. In her very early years, she performed as an Actress in NYC, and as a Mime performer with the Simon Kudrov Mime Company. She has also received numerous First, Second and Third Prize Art Awards, from the Annual CA State Bar Art Exhibition events. Hollis and Charles created and produced a Public Access talk show, years ago, in L.A., entitled The Open Edge, where they interviewed entertainers, lawyers, politicians, athletes and others.
Hollis believes she cannot end without crediting the beautiful people that helped her along the way, in her life, with their skills and inspiration. The following people are in the beyond, but they are in her heart: her mother, her brother Fred, Conrad J. Lynn, Esq., and T. Edward Hambleton, who received a Tony Award, in his later years, before passing away, as co-founder of the Phoenix Theatre in NYC. “T, “as his friends called him, hired Hollis in her young years, as a co-Talent Coordinator for his Experimental Theater project. Conrad J. Lynn, Esq. hired Hollis as an intern during her college years. He took her to court and taught her to be a lawyer who should truly care about your clients. He even permitted her to represent him at the counsel table during a high-profile media case (writing her impressions of the trial, with a high-profile co-counsel, in New York City. The judge permitted Hollis, in her college years, to sit at the counsel table for Conrad Lynn, Esq., to write her impressions of how the trial was going. The media wanted to discuss the matter with her, but her response was, “No Comment.” Her brother Fred was a role model in Elementary School (1 year older than her), who taught her, by his actions, How To Deal With BULLIES. Her mom was a quiet strong woman, who taught her to be kind, yet ferocious, if circumstances required it.
