Kathleen Rice Insurance Law

Kathleen 'Katie' Rice is a partner in the firm’s Admiralty and Maritime, Insurance Defense, and Commercial Litigation practice areas. Ms. Rice is an experienced litigator with particular focus on all aspects of admiralty litigation in federal and state courts, including Jones Act and marine personal injury defense, vessel and cargo damage, charter disputes, collisions/allisions, shipowner’s limitation of liability, and marine insurance. In addition to her admiralty practice, Ms. Rice advises clients on insurance coverage issues, and represents primary and excess insurers in complex litigation involving personal injury and property damage. She also regularly handles commercial matters, including contract formulation and negotiation. A magna cum laude graduate of Louisiana State University and a cum laude graduate of the Loyola University School of Law, Ms. Rice was elected President of the Student Bar Association at Loyola and was a member of the Moot Court Staff. She joined the firm as an associate in August 2007 after clerking at Frilot the previous summer. She is a member of the Federal, Louisiana, and New Orleans Bar Associations, and the St. Thomas More Inns of Court. Additionally, Ms. Rice serves as member of the Civil Pro Bono Panel at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
