Area of Practice: Insolvency and Restructuring
Leslie’s practice has been representing creditors, lenders, trustees and other fiduciaries since 1989 and she has been a standing member of the Southern District of California Chapter 7 Trustee Panel since 1998. She has served as chapter 7 and/or chapter 11 trustee in thousands of cases and has also served as Liquidating Trustee, Receiver, Disbursing Agent, Special Master, Expert Witness, Assignee for Benefit of Creditors and Examiner. She is Immediate Past President with the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, is a past board member with the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum, the San Diego Receiver’s Form and the Women’s Insolvency Network. She is also a member of the United States Bankruptcy Court Mediation Panel and frequently serves in the capacity as Court-Appointed and/or privately retained Mediator. In addition to her practice as court-appointed trustee, disbursing agent, assignee, receiver and mediator, Leslie also represents creditors, lenders, landlords and business owners in all aspects of business, financial, real estate and insolvency law.
Leslie graduated cum laude from Pepperdine University School of Law and was editor of the Pepperdine Law Review. During law school, she served as judicial extern to the Honorable Barry Russell in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California and also worked as a teaching assistant in Business Reorganizations. Before founding Financial Law Group in 1998, Leslie worked first as an associate and then as “of counsel” with Gray Cary Ames & Frye aka Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich, at the time the largest law firm based in San Diego.
Leslie has served on the board and as chairperson of Angels Foster Family Agency, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing loving homes for foster children in San Diego. She was also a foster parent from 2003-2005 and then adopted her youngest daughter in 2005.
