EduBest known for his extensive and diverse appellate practice, Mr. Long developed a model for post-trial and appellate litigation that was copied by several firms throughout the region. Mr. Long has been lead counsel before the highest courts in four states, four federal circuits, and the United States Supreme Court. His experience spans the entire gamut of the firm’s trial and administrative practice. Mr. Long brings his appellate perspective to the trial court level, assisting others in identification and preservation of key issues to build the record for the appellate process and to oppose adversaries’ attacks upon successful outcomes. Before joining the firm, Mr. Long stepped out of the appellate arena to devote more time and energy to defense of insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. Mr. Long has provided coverage analysis in hundreds of commercial and personal liability matters, including commercial general liability, professional liability, D&O, E&O, auto, property, workers’ compensation and employers’ liability, and marine coverages. Mr. Long has drafted and interpreted policy language and he has assisted insurance companies in claims handling to minimize or avoid extracontractual liabilities. Mr. Long is an approved Mediator and ADR neutral who concentrates in coverage and bad faith. He is also a frequent author and instructor for legal and insurance continuing education programs Education: Temple University School of Law, J.D., cum laude 1980, Bar Admissions: Pennsylvania 1980, West Virginia 1991.
