Area of Practice: Employment Law
Meagan Koontz is an associate, practicing general litigation with the firm.
Ms. Koontz’s practice covers all facets of employment law. She represents employers and employees in matters of wrongful discharge, discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, hostile work environment, misclassification, and wage and hour violations in single-plaintiff, class actions, and representative actions (such as PAGA actions). Ms. Koontz has trial experience in state court, including conducting witness examinations at trial, and she litigates matters in arbitration, conducts workplace investigations, and represents clients before the California Labor Commissioner’s Office and Civil Rights Department. Ms. Koontz also assists employers with drafting employee handbooks.
Ms. Koontz is committed to pro bono and volunteer work in her community. She has represented pro bono clients regarding a variety of legal issues, including sexual assault, defamation, negligence, and intentional infliction of emotion distress. Ms. Koontz has also assisted individuals in upgrading military discharges before the Naval Discharge Review Board and expunging criminal records through the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles.
Ms. Koontz is a board member of the non-profit organization, Orange County Foundation for Oncology Children and Families, which coordinates camp activities for children battling cancer. She is also an adjunct mock trial professor at Southwestern Law School.
In her free time, Ms. Koontz enjoys live music, art museums, and spending time at the beach near her home in Venice.
