Michael W. Mitchell obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his law degree from the University of Arkansas Law School. He was admitted to the Arkansas Bar in 1969 and the Colorado Bar in 1994. He practiced law with Coleman, Gantt, Ramsay and Cox in Pine Bluff until 1975, when he joined three law school classmates in the practice of law in Little Rock - Dent Gitchel (now retired professor of law UALR Law School), Robert M. Cearley,Jr. (now past president Arkansas Bar Association) and David Bogard (now former circuit judge in Pulaski County).
