Philip A. Byler Civil Litigation

Philip A. Byler, graduated from Harvard Law School where he earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 1976. Following Harvard Law, Mr. Byler clerked for Judge John W. Peck of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and then started private practice as an associate at Cravath Swaine & Moore. He has four decades of extensive experience representing individuals and businesses. Mr. Byler is an appellate and trial lawyer and his areas of practice include: First Amendment issues, Title IX, accounting fraud, property, antitrust, international trade, patent, copyright infringement, partnership disputes, securities fraud allegations, Section 1983 civil rights, and real estate-related litigation. Mr. Byler is admitted to the following bar associations: New York, Ohio, U.S. District Court – Southern District of New York, U.S. District Court – Eastern District of New York, U.S. District Court – Southern District of Ohio, Federal Circuit, U.S. Supreme Court, and U.S. Tax Court. Further, Mr. Byler is also a member of and has briefed and orally argued cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. In addition to being recognized for excellence in the practice of law by Lawyers of Distinction, Mr. Byler has also earned any honors, awards and accolades including being selected to the New York Super Lawyers list, being appointed to serve many roles with the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association and more.
