Pramod has been instrumental in securing IP rights around the world in various technologies aligned with his clients' current and future business interests. Pramod focuses his practice on strategic IP portfolio development, with an emphasis on patent prosecution. Prior to starting his own law firm, Pramod worked at Sony Corporation, where he served a dual role as a Senior Patent Counsel for Sony America and as an Assistant General Manager and Head of IP for Sony India. During his tenure at Sony, Pramod helped setup, manage and train a team of over 40 patent professionals in various aspects of patent application drafting and prosecution. Pramod has reviewed and filed hundreds of patent applications and thousands of Office Action responses at the USPTO. Pramod has drafted numerous IP related agreements, including software development, joint venture, non-disclosure, non-compete and licensing agreements. Pramod has rendered opinions on patent infringement and invalidity issues, and supervised patentability, invalidity, landscape, and freedom to operate searches. Prior to joining Sony, Pramod was a partner at a large Intellectual Property law firm in Chicago, where he counseled clients in obtaining patents, trademarks, design patents, and copyright protection. He was successful in securing patent rights in a variety of technology areas, encompassing electronics, digital video, image processing, broadband, wired and wireless network protocols, client-server systems, computer security, optical and fiber communication, medical devices, computer architecture, mobile communications, semiconductors, MEMS, business methods and software. Pramod has been a distinguished speaker at numerous technology and legal conferences on various topics including best practices related to fostering innovation, harvesting patent portfolios, Intellectual Property procurement and protection, and Intellectual Property law fundamentals and developments. Pramod is also an inventor with over 20 pending patents to his credit in various fields including automotive technologies, advanced driver assistance systems, connected cars, wearables, electronic financial transaction management, cellular and wireless communication, emotion and gesture recognition, and digital imaging.
