S. Jenell Trigg is the chair of Lerman Senter’s Privacy and Data Security practice. She specializes in privacy and data security issues, intellectual property concerns, and government regulation of the internet and new technologies. She also maintains a varied practice in the broadcast, wireless, cable, internet, and telecommunications industries. Jenell’s practice includes advertising and marketing issues related to the Internet and mobile apps, TCPA and CAN-SPAM Act issues, e-commerce and PCI-DSS compliance issues, and development of privacy policies and website and online service terms of use agreements. Jenell also works with Internet and e-commerce start-ups and small businesses in meeting local, state, federal and international regulatory requirements. As a former broadcast television sales and marketing executive for 16 years in two major markets, Jenell has a first-hand understanding of the practical impact of regulations on business operations and a company’s bottom line. She has an invaluable perspective on the FCC rulemaking and enforcement process, having served on the staffs of two FCC Commissioners and at the FCC Bureau/Office level. Prior to private practice, Jenell served as Assistant Chief Counsel for Telecommunications for the Office of Advocacy, U.S. Small Business Administration, where she directed involvement in communications and Internet issues and proceedings before the FCC, other federal and state government agencies, the White House, and Congress. Jenell has been nationally recognized for her longstanding dedication and commitment to promoting minority, women, and small business ownership and employment in the media and communications industries. She has received Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and the Multicultural Media, Telecom, and Internet Council, and awards and recognition from other civil rights, public interest, and educational organizations.
