Maria is a calm, confident negotiator with a long list of favorable, comprehensive out-of-court settlements. Her demeanor is especially beneficial in emotionally charged and difficult cases. A skilled Brooklyn Family Law Attorney with almost 40 years of courtroom and trial experience, Maria has earned a well-deserved reputation for her high-quality work, superb knowledge of the law, ethical standards and commitment to her clients and cases. Early in her career as a family lawyer, Maria's legal work on behalf of a client — a mother facing a challenge to the custody of her children — established a bedrock legal principle of family law, namely that children have the right to independent, impartial counsel of their own at court proceedings concerning their custody and living arrangements. This landmark case helped secure the rights of children all across New York state. However, it is more important to Maria that her work on this case allowed the mother to maintain custody of her children. The former client still keeps in touch with Maria and thanks her to this day.
