MATTHEW L. WILSON is a partner at Martin Law and has practiced Pennsylvania workers’ compensation law exclusively for more than 25 years. He started his career representing agencies with the City of Philadelphia, major insurance carriers and self-insured corporations. After Mr. Wilson’s affiliation with two major defense firms, he was recruited by his partners in 1993 to protect the rights of injured workers. In the spring of 2015, Mr. Wilson became a certified specialist in Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation by the PA Bar Association’s Section on Workers’ Compensation Law as authorized by the PA Supreme Court.* He frequently lectures to other lawyers, doctors and insurance groups on workers’ compensation in a variety of subject areas. For the last 12 years he has co-authored the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s Workers’ Compensation Practice and Procedure Manual, which is known among attorneys and judges as the “bible” on workers’ compensation law. Since 1997, Mr. Wilson has been a featured speaker at the biennial “Tough Problems in Workers’ Compensation” seminar. He has also presented multiple lectures at the spring and fall meetings of the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Section as well as the statewide biannual practice and procedure program. Mr. Wilson has served on the Workers’ Compensation Law Section Council of the Pennsylvania Bar Association since 2007 and is a past Chair of the organization. He is an active member of the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Associations as well as the Workplace Injury Litigation Group. Wilson was inducted into The College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers in 2011. He is a member of the committee that implemented and manages a ground breaking certification process for Pennsylvania workers’ compensation attorneys. In 2017, Mr. Wilson was named Best Lawyers 2017 Workers Compensation Law - Claimants, “Lawyer of the Year” in Philadelphia.

Patrick "Pat" Wilson was born and raised in Miami, Florida. Since becoming an attorney, he has developed a reputation as a fierce trial lawyer who is willing not only to take difficult cases, but is also more than capable of winning them. After graduating law school, Patrick worked as an Assistant Public Defender at the Miami-Dade Public Defender's Office for six years representing those accused of crimes who could not afford legal help. Because of his experience, prior to entering private practice, Patrick became a training attorney where he taught new lawyers how to try criminal cases. Prior to founding Patrick Wilson Law, PLLC, Patrick tried 75 cases as an Assistant Public Defender or a member of the private bar, throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and West Palm Beach Counties. He has handled cases ranging from possession of marijuana to murder and has consistently obtained not guilty verdicts for clients, even when it seems they faced impossible odds. Patrick has and continues to give continuing legal education courses to other lawyers on topics such as jury selection, cross examination, defending sex offenses, fingerprints, and DNA. In 2022, remaining true to his public defender roots, Patrick was selected as panel member for the CJA of the Southern District of Florida.

Alana Wilson is a Bay Area native who graduated cum laude from Saint Mary’s College of California before attaining her law degree from Santa Clara University, School of Law. Throughout law school, Alana developed a passion for criminal defense and participated in various clinics and internships to feed her interests, including the Northern California Innocence Project, expungement clinics, and internships at the Habeas Corpus Resource Center, Santa Clara County Public Defender’s Office, and Contra Costa County Public Defender’s Office. Additionally, Alana volunteered with Fresh Lifelines for Youth to educate high school students on their constitutional rights, and she served as a board member on the Criminal Law Society during her time in law school. She demonstrated academic excellence in the field by receiving the CALI Award for achieving the highest score in her Criminal Procedure course, and as a recipient of the BT Collins academic scholarship, an award given to a law student who demonstrates a strong commitment to the service of others. Immediately upon passing the California Bar Exam, Alana joined the firm as an associate attorney. Alana appreciates that our team recognizes each client’s individualized needs and carefully strategizes to provide zealous advocacy for each and every person represented by our firm. Alana is particularly drawn to cases involving mental health issues, cases with juvenile or youthful offenders, and cases involving domestic disputes. Alana has been an attorney with the Law Offices of William Pernik since 2021 and recently began working at our San Jose office. In her free time, Alana enjoys spending time with family and friends, supporting Bay Area sports teams (Go Valkyries!), traveling, and playing with her puppy, Chase.

Richard Wingerden’s interest in the legal profession was sparked while he was an undergraduate in Political Science at San Jose State University. His legal experience began in 1991 at the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s Office.
