Attorney Stratte's passion is family law. Richard Straughn, began his practice after graduating from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1983. He has a strong commitment to community and has served as president on the boards of numerous local non-profits, including the Greater Winter Haven Area Chamber of Commerce, Winter Haven Hospital, Mid-Florida Medical Services Foundation and Polk Community College Foundation. Mr. Straughn was honored to receive the Winter Haven Banker’s Cup “Man of the Year” award in recognition of his service to the community. Mr. Straughn's practice has been varied and evolving over the years, giving him experience in a variety of areas, including business, real estate, and general litigation. Area of Practice: Consumer Protection Alex R. Straus has represented consumers, labor unions, and municipalities throughout the United States in practice areas ranging from complex tort and personal injury to antitrust and securities litigation. In 2013, he authored an amicus curiae brief filed in the Supreme Court of the United States in support of a shipyard worker who died as a result of asbestos exposure and, in 2024, argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Straus has also authored multiple non-fiction books and wrote more than 100 nationally published feature-length magazine articles before becoming an attorney in 2010. Mr. Straus is licensed to practice law in California, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, and South Carolina.
