Phillip J. Tucker is a highly accomplished family law attorney, who enjoys helping his clients resolve family challenges. Prior to joining Doerner in 2021, Phil practiced law for nearly 38 years as a founding partner at a law firm in Edmond, Oklahoma. Phil has been widely published and regularly presents locally and nationwide. His focus areas include adoption, ethics, paternity, habeas corpus/writ proceedings, guardianship, military law, guardian ad litem training, trial advocacy and law practice management. He is also a contributing author for the Oklahoma Bar Association's (OBA) FAMILY LAW PRACTICE MANUAL. He most recently presented an OBA CLE regarding guardian ad litem representation. Recognized for his experience in family law, Phil has been named to the annual Super Lawyers list multiple times. Locally, Phil received the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Maurice Merrill Golden Quill Award for the best OBA Journal article as a co-recipient in 2020. He received the OBA’s Earl Sneed Award for outstanding CLE contributions as a co-recipient in 2011. The OBA also recognized Phil in 2003 as Oklahoma’s Outstanding Family Law Attorney. Through Phil’s dedication to giving back to the legal community, he serves on the OBA's Solo & Small Firm Conference Planning Committee, Military Assistance Task Force, and Legislative Over Site Committee. Phil has also been the technology liaison for the Section Leader’s Council and is an Oklahoma Bar Foundation Fellow. In addition, Phil was a Commissioner on the OBA's Professional Responsibility Commission (2017-2019). He has been an active member of the American Bar Association, Section of Family Law since 1995. He currently is a member on the Adoption, Law Practice Management/Technology, Assisted Reproduction Technology, Ethics, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Governmental Relations (former Chair), International Law and Military Law Committees (former Chair) and is a volunteer with both Operation Standby and Operation LAMP (Legal Assistance for Military Families). Phil was also an observer on the 2014 Uniform Law Commission Drafting Committee on Non-Parental Rights to Custody and Visitation.

John began his career in the insurance claims industry in 1990, working for Eagle Insurance and General Accident Insurance. Through his experience in the insurance industry John was able to learn firsthand the types of strategies and tactics they employ to reduce payouts to the injured and the distressed. The methodologies of the insurance industry drove John to pursue a career wherein he could help those in difficult situations with his expertise. John was employed with a prominent personal injury law firm in New York for 17 years prior to starting his own firm in 2013. He advocates fiercely on behalf of clients who have been injured in vehicle and construction accidents with their third-party claims and in addition he is able to help them navigate the complex areas of vehicle and workers’ compensation and social security disability. His diverse background enables him to evaluate complex liability-related claims and to maximize the recovery of his clients in an expedited time frame. His empathetic approach allows him to anticipate the needs of his clients and to make a difficult time easier. John prides himself on his communication with his clients to answer any questions that they may have and keeping them apprised of developments with their cases. John has personally handled thousands of claims for clients who were victims of another’s negligence and fights relentlessly for their rights. John enjoys bringing closure to a client’s matter so that the injured party can move forward with their life. He takes great pride in being actively involved in helping people through hard times. John believes that, through their tireless work, attorneys provide for the safety and security of citizens by holding industries accountable and he will always fight for the little guy. John does not prioritize one case over another, he values and respects each client and works to foster a transparent and communicative relationship with them. Clients are not numbers to him, but individuals who need his experience and knowledge to traverse hardship and come out on the other side informed and liberated. In his spare time, John enjoys an active life through sports, religion, and community events. He has coached local youth teams in many sports for decades and is proud to have mentored so many children in his community. John utilizes the skills that he has developed in his professional career in his coaching style where commitment, communication, and reliability are vital. He also has a passion for supporting the American Cancer Society and the ASPCA.
