Scott is a partner with the firm and is the head of the litigation department. He began his career in California's Silicon Valley in 1990. He moved to Kansas and joined Hovey Williams in 1999. His practice includes all aspects of intellectual property creation, management, enforcement and licensing, with particular emphasis on intellectual property litigation. Scott has been a full time first chair trial lawyer since 1999, handling more than one hundred lawsuits in state and federal courts across the country in his career, both at trial and on appeal.

Area of Practice: Environmental Law & Toxic Tort Law Duncan H. Brown is the manager of Zamler, Shiffman & Karfis, P.C. Toxic and Asbestos Departments. He graduated from the University of Detroit Law School in 1986, and was a clerk for the Michigan Court of Appeals from 1986-1987. He is a member of the Michigan Bar and has been admitted to both Federal District Courts for Michigan, several other states Federal District Courts, the Federal 6th Circuit court of Appeals and the US Supreme Court. Mr. Brown has handled product liability, toxic substance liability, tort action and transactional actions from State and Federal District Courts through Appellate Courts and Supreme Courts. Throughout his thirty-three year legal career Mr. Brown has handled a wide variety of toxic environmental exposure personal injury and premise liability actions related to asbestos, formaldehyde, benzene, lead, herbicides and industrial fumes, mists and solvents. He has handled asbestos personal injury and premises liability actions throughout the State of Michigan and several other states. He has tried numerous asbestos actions in Michigan, and authored and argued several asbestos-related issues in the Appellate Courts of Michigan. He is the only attorney currently practicing in Michigan who has both defended manufacturers of asbestos-containing products and prosecuted asbestos personal injury actions. As such he possesses unique knowledge and skills as to how to effectively prosecute all types of asbestos-personal injury actions – Mesothelioma, Lung Cancer, Esophageal Cancer, Laryngeal Cancer and Colon Cancers – to achieve the optimal results for our clients. He is also a member of the Wayne County Asbestos Steering Committee, which works with the Court in setting procedures for the handling of asbestos cases. Mr. Brown enjoys playing in recreational hockey games, and spending time with his family in his hand split built log cabin in the Great Aboral Forrest. He also enjoys fishing, hiking and working with his hands.
