Greg Latham founded Intellectual Property Consulting in 2007 and currently serves as the firm’s managing director. His primary role consists of servicing clients with intellectual property concerns including trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets, entertainment, software and Internet law. Greg assists clients with general business counseling, licensing, litigation, copyright and trademark prosecution in a wide variety of industries. Greg graduated J.D., cum laude from Tulane University School of Law in 1998. Immediately prior to law school, Greg received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana where he was enrolled in the engineering school.

Since graduating from the University of Dayton College of Law in 1998, Attorney Lavin has focused his practice in the area of Elder Law serving the needs of senior citizens, including but not limited to, a dedication to the areas of estate planning, retirement planning and asset protection with a specific concentration towards nursing home qualification, comprehensive use of trusts, wills, probate issues and durable powers of attorney. Attorney Lavin previously worked for Pro Seniors, Inc. in Cincinnati, where he assisted seniors with diverse Elder Law issues, including nursing home planning. Attorney Lavin now serves as the managing partner of the Lavin Law Group LLC, which was founded on the idea that estate planning is for everyone, and that an educated client will make the best decision for themselves and their families. We all have options. In addition to his law degree, Attorney Lavin holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree from Xavier University. Attorney Lavin is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio as well as the State of Kentucky, and has been admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and Wealth Counsel. He also serves on the Elder Law Committee of the Cincinnati Bar Association. Attorney Lavin is a frequent lecturer for various professional groups on legal issues affecting seniors including the Warren County Alzheimer’s Association, the Ohio Parkinson’s Association, The Dayton Chapter of the Ohio Tax Society, and the Wright-Patterson AFB Retiree Support Squadron. Attorney Lavin has also taught Medicaid to attorneys and other professionals for the National Business Institute, and co-authored 101 Questions about Living Estate Planning and Living Trusts.

I grew up in the suburbs of Memphis Tennessee, and like many people here in Charlotte, I relocated to North Carolina after completing my graduate studies. In law school I spent my time studying and working at my internships. Unlike most of my classmates, I attended law school after completing a postgraduate degree and entering the workforce. My postgraduate studies were focused in criminology and criminal justice, in which I largely focused on studying the generational transmission of domestic violence. I had every intention of then pursuing a career in law enforcement after law school, and spent my law school years working at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I also interned at a well-established family law firm before receiving my law license. Following law school I decided to practice law for a period of time before planning on returning to the Bureau. It was during this time that I decided to commit to the practice of law. I worked at the firm I had interned at and another highly respected family law firm in Charlotte before opening Freedom Law | North Carolina. While I am grateful for my past opportunities and the experience I gained from my former positions, over the years I realized there is a disconnect between the traditional ways of practicing law and meeting today’s clients’ needs. If I were a client, I would not only want an attorney who is competent and able to handle my case, I would want an attorney that I could relate to and really feel like my story is important.
