Dan Mordarski worked for a commercial litigation law firm for 12 years and represented some of the largest international companies. In 2006, he resigned as a partner and started his own firm. Mordarski represents plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation matters including wrongful death, serious personal injury, sexual abuse, civil rights, employment, legal malpractice, product liability and all types of commercial litigation. His practice also includes attorney ethics and expert witness assistance in legal malpractice and attorney fee matters. As a result of his extensive experience with complex litigation and his record of successfully trying cases for both defendants and plaintiffs, Mordarski has become a top choice mediator for sophisticated, complex and high value claims. Mordarski has appeared on the Today Show, Anderson Cooper, Dr. Drew and other local television and radio programs. He also lectures on civil litigation matters, attorney ethics and professionalism.

Phil is a partner and a founding member of Valent Legal. Born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he practices personal injury law and is dedicated to advancing and protecting the rights of injury victims. He has extensive Courtroom experience and has appeared at every level of Court in Nova Scotia. He is a tireless advocate for his clients and is closely attuned to access to justice issues and initiatives. Phil prides himself on building positive relationships, which include being accessible, communicating clearly and openly, and always being fully aware of his client’s needs and objectives. He received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Saint Mary’s University in 2007, his Master of Arts from Carleton University in 2008, and his Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2013. In his spare time, Phil is a sports enthusiast and enjoys reading, writing, fishing, weight training, and spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Morel has litigated and won matters at motion to dismiss, summary judgment and class action certification stages involving a full range of commercial and tort matters for clients such as BP, Briggs and Stratton, Brunswick, Dow Chemical Company, HCSC, General Motors, GATX Corporation, PWC, Rohm and Haas, Union Carbide and United Air Lines. He has counseled and represented clients in response to significant industrial disasters including petrochemical plant explosions and releases in Louisiana and Texas, and rail disasters in Viareggio, Italy, Lac-Megantic, Canada, California, North Dakota, Texas and West Virginia. Mr. Morel has also advised clients with respect to internal matters including corporate governance, internal systems, securities and regulatory compliance, risk management, due diligence, and best practices. He has conducted internal investigations involving a number of issues including trade secret theft and harassment.
