Wes Straw has been trying civil cases for over ten years. A Coconut Grove native with ties to the community reaching back a hundred years, Mr. Stroleny attended MAST Academy before graduating with his bachelor's degree from Florida International University. While attending law school at Florida International University, he worked in a top law firm in the field of probate and guardianship, learning the importance of commitment to clients and passionate advocacy. In law school, Mr. Stroleny served as class president and later went on to serve as President of the FIU Trial Team. In 2012, Mr. Stroleny competed in Washington, D.C., for the FIU Law Trial Team, winning first place at the 16th Annual National White Collar Crime Mock Trial Invitational, held at Georgetown University. With a desire to learn more about the criminal justice system, Mr. Stroleny interned in the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office Juvenile division. There he worked on hundreds of juvenile misdemeanor and felony cases, taking many to trial and winning favorable verdicts. Mr. Stroleny graduated from law school with honors and was awarded the Trial Advocacy Award, a distinction for the graduate who demonstrated the greatest overall excellence in trial advocacy. After law school Mr. Stroleny went to work full time for the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office as an Assistant State Attorney. There he worked thousands of cases ranging from traffic, misdemeanors, DUIs and felonies, all the while gaining trial and appellate experience. Rebecca Stuart is a partner in Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati's employment law practice. Rebecca represents employers in federal and state court litigation and before administrative agencies regarding discrimination (including race, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, and disability), harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, wage and hour, wrongful termination, and numerous other types of employment law matters. In addition to her litigation practice, Rebecca consults with human resources professionals, executives, and board members on a daily basis regarding all aspects of the employment relationship. These issues include preventive personnel practices, enforceability of covenants not to compete, hiring practices, employee classification issues, employment contracts, wage and hour matters, independent contractor audits, family and medical leaves, workplace investigations (including those involving sexual harassment), terminations, and reductions in force. Her merger and acquisition practice consists of representing both buyers and sellers in large and small transactions, including cross-border and other complex transactions. Her practice includes mergers, acquisitions, IPOs, asset purchases, and financing. Rebecca also has significant international experience pertaining to employment issues in the M&A context, and she regularly represents buyers and sellers in transactions involving non-U.S. employees. Rebecca is a frequent speaker on employment matters, routinely providing training for clients and local bar associations on matters such as anti-harassment, bias in the legal and technology sectors, use of social media in employment, general management skills, and employment law in the M&A context.
