Mr. Chapman focuses his practice on securities law, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and international business transactions. He counsels publicly traded and privately held clients on public offerings, private placements, debt financings, venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and related transactions. Mr. Chapman also represents venture capital firms, angels, and private equity groups in their investments. With 30 years of experience in corporate and securities law, he has represented clients in over 300 mergers, acquisitions, and financing transactions. Mr. Chapman has counseled clients ranging from media to pharmaceutical companies on numerous China-United States transactions. His international transactions work includes assisting Chinese companies in both investing and raising capital in the United States. Mr. Chapman also assists U.S. firms in investing and operating in China and has been involved in negotiating resolutions to some of the most high-profile disputes involving US companies operating in China. He is a graduate of Santa Clara University, where he earned his J.D.

Area of Practice: Labor & Employment Nathaniel has acquired a wide range of experience within the field of labor and employment law. Since 1993, Nathaniel has engaged exclusively in the practice of labor and employment law representing individuals and union clients in litigation, administrative proceedings, collective bargaining and arbitration, as well as providing institutional clients with day-to-day counsel. Much of Nathaniel's work centers on employment matters, including employment contract negotiation, drafting and review, severance agreements, not-for-profit organizational development, wage and hour, discrimination, wrongful discharge, and breach of contract. Nathaniel enjoys appointment as one of CSEA, Local 1000, AFSCME's Regional Attorneys, providing the full breadth of legal representation to municipal workers in Rockland and Westchester County. Nathaniel served as Director of Legal Affairs for the Professional Staff Congress/CUNY, in New York City from 2005 through 2007, where he managed the full breadth of legal affairs for this 20,000-member union comprising faculty and professional staff of the City University of New York. His responsibilities included: counsel on all matters for the union; principle supervision of all litigation and administrative proceedings; advocacy at arbitration proceedings; creating and implementing legal strategies to advance the interests and rights of PSC members; and serving as legal counsel to union leadership. From 1999 until 2002, he served as Assistant Counsel to the Writers Guild of America, East AFL-CIO, with primary responsibility for negotiating, implementing, and enforcing national, regional, and local collective bargaining agreements between writers and production companies and television networks. From 1993 until mid-1997, Nathaniel was an associate attorney at the New York City labor law firm Cohen, Weiss and Simon, where he represented labor unions in federal and state court litigation, as well as in contract negotiations, grievance and arbitrations.

Melissa Muirhead Charpentier has a B.A. from the University of Connecticut, a Master's degree in Counseling from Springfield College and her J.D. from Western New England College School of Law. Attorney Charpentier has practiced family law since 2004. She has been with the Mester Law Group, LLC for over 19 years and her practice is primarily limited to divorce and custody. Prior to attending law school, she was employed as a social worker at Catholic Charities for more than ten years. She supervised adoption services for the Archdiocese of Hartford while attending law school. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar and the Hartford County bar association. Attorney Charpentier is a member of the Family Law Sections of both the Connecticut and Hartford County bar associations. She accepts Guardian ad Litem appointments in criminal and family matters and completed the GAL/AMC training held by the CT Commission on Child Protection. Attorney Charpentier is also trained in mediation and collaborative divorce. She is a member of the Collaborative Divorce Lawyer Association of Greater Hartford. Attorney Charpentier resides in Portland with her husband and two sons. She currently involved with the Portland High School Side Liners, Project Graduation and is on the Stewardship board of the First Congregational Church of Portland. Ms. Chavez earned her Juris Doctor degree in 1998 from Northwestern University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Northern Illinois University in 1995. She was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1998 and is admitted in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, the Federal Trial Bar and the Federal Court of Claims. Ms. Chavez has also been admitted pro hac vice in numerous cases nationwide. She has extensive litigation experience in multi-district litigation (“MDL”), federal and state civil litigation, class action litigation, arbitrations (including class and multi-plaintiff) and litigation before administrative tribunals, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Ms. Chavez is an accomplished trial attorney who has extensive experience in all aspects of complex civil litigation including such tasks as: case investigation, pleadings, discovery, e-discovery, document review, motion practice, trial (including class action), appeals and mediation/settlements. Her practice is focused on complex civil cases (including class, multi-plaintiff, mass tort and individual) involving competition, consumer fraud, unfair trade practices, environmental, technology, trademark, qui tam, civil rights, breach of contract, Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (“RICO”), employment, wage and hour, insurance and other state and federal statutory and common law claims.
