Marcus W. Chesnutt was admitted to the practice of law in 1978. He attended the University of North Carolina and the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University. At that time he served as the Senior Law Clerk to the Chief U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Marc has been recognized by the Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers, “Best Lawyers in America”, “Top 100 Lawyers in Criminal Defense by the National Trial Lawyers”, as well as being selected as a “Top Lawyer by Business N.C.” and the “Global Directory of Who’s Who”. Herbert Chestnut received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University in 1979. He received his doctorate degree in 1982 from the Walter F. George school of law at Mercer University, graduating in the top 20% of his class. He is a three-time winner of Georgia Workers' Compensation Attorney of the Year and received the AV Preeminent rating. This rating is based on peer reviews from other attorneys, with only 10% of all attorneys holding this rating. He was admitted to the Savannah Bar Association in 1982 and the Bar of the United States Supreme Court in 1987. Mr. Chestnut moved his practice from Atlanta to Savannah in 2021 to concentrate on longshore claims and Georgia workers' compensation claims. He has expanded his practice to include social security, consumer protection, and fair debt collection.
