Michael Katz was born and raised in Philadelphia. His undergraduate education was split between Drexel University and Temple University, and he received his legal education from what is now the James E. Beasley School of Law at Temple University. While he was enrolled in law school he worked part-time for the prestigious Beasley Firm, where he eventually worked his way up to associate. At the Beasley Firm, Michael worked with and learned from some of the most talented attorneys in the area, including James J. McHugh, Jr. and Michael A. Smerconish. Michael is also one of only a handful of attorneys to have second-chaired a trial with the great Jim Beasley, Sr. himself. As a plaintiffs’ attorney, Michael worked on cases involving medical malpractice, products liability, aviation, breach of contract, securities litigation, civil rights, and more. Following Jim McHugh over to the Lopez McHugh firm was automatic, especially with Michael’s interest in standing up for plaintiffs against pharmaceutical companies. Michael has been a member of the bar since 1995. He is licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, both state and federal courts. His track record of success includes multiple personal injury settlements that have gone into the six- and seven-figures. When Michael is not spending his spare time with his wife Beth and his children —Nikita, Steven, and Ryan— he is a part-time writer and editor, including author of the comedy-western novel Shalom On the Range, and often acts as a mentor to other budding writers. Building on the success of his first novel, Michael recently published his second piece of work titled Six-guns and Sorcerers.

Kathleen is an owner of Rockwell & Kaufman, L.L.C. She received a B.A. from the University of Alabama and is a 1996 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law. Specializing in the areas of medical malpractice defense and construction litigation, her practice includes direct representation of nursing homes, physicians, contractors, architects and engineers. During her practice, Kathleen has handled numerous complex cases in the medical, construction and insurance fields. She continues to have a significant appellate practice, and has served as a member of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association Amicus Committee since 1998. Kathleen is a frequent speaker in the areas of litigation and management of medical and construction claims and has authored several articles on these topics. She is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association. Kathleen is a graduate of the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy. She is licensed to practice before the State and Federal courts in Alabama and is an active member of both the Alabama Bar Association and the Mobile Bar Association, serving on numerous committees and panels within the Bar. Kathleen is active in her community and is a member of several civic organizations.

Ms. Kavanagh brings over 30 years of experience in the field of personal injury since 1989 working as a Litigation Law Clerk while completing her undergraduate and law degrees. Aileen has extensive litigation experience representing clients in motor vehicle accident cases, construction and work-related injuries/labor law, slip and falls, bicycle accidents, school injuries, products liability, wrongful death/conscious pain and suffering, and more, in both State and Federal Courts.

Ms. Kawos is a seasoned attorney specializing exclusively in Family Law and Domestic Relations. Originating from Afghanistan, she has been a respected Californian resident for over two decades. Ms. Kawos earned her Doctorate in Jurisprudence with a notable emphasis on Family Law and Intellectual Property Law from Golden Gate University, School of Law. Complementing her extensive legal education, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Communications from San Francisco State University. Ms. Kawos brings a wealth of experience to her practice, including her tenure at Uber Technologies, Inc. In her role, she performed employment and HR legal compliance for Uber Technologies, Inc., where she managed Uber’s legal employment and business contracts and policies globally. Ms. Kawos collaborated and worked directly with Uber’s in-house counsels, directors, and various management heads across multiple departments, including but not limited to Engineering, Facilities, Security, Privacy, Trust and Safety, Compliance, FinOps, HR, and Operations, ensuring company and corporate compliance, global alignment, and the seamless execution of various systems and programs. In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Kawos has made significant contributions to the legal community. She previously served as Chair of the New Lawyers Section of the California Lawyers Association and later as an Advisor to the Section. She has also served on the Board of the Contra Costa County Family Law Section and as the California Young Lawyers Association Liaison to the California Lawyers Association’s Family Law Section. These roles reflect her strong commitment to mentorship, leadership, and the advancement of the legal profession. Before entering the legal field, Ms. Kawos contributed significantly to the legal community. She worked at the Family Law Facilitator’s Office in San Francisco County, aiding over 400 self-represented litigants. Additionally, she served as a judicial extern for Family Law and dependency matters. Ms. Kawos also dedicated her efforts to the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, providing essential legal assistance to inmates incarcerated in San Francisco jails.
