Tehmina had always been interested in justice and human rights. As she pursued her education, she became increasingly passionate about working to protect the most vulnerable in society. When she had the opportunity to intern at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), she jumped at the chance. During her time at the UNHCR, Tehmina saw firsthand the dire situations faced by refugees who had been forced to flee their homes due to war, persecution, and other forms of violence. She saw the importance of providing legal assistance to help refugees navigate the complex and often confusing immigration process. As Tehmina worked with immigration attorneys to help refugees, she saw the impact that their work had on people's lives. She saw the relief on the faces of refugees when they were granted asylum, and she saw the hope that came with the opportunity to start a new life in a safe and welcoming country. Tehmina knew that becoming an immigration attorney was the best way for her to continue making a difference in the lives of refugees. She wanted to use her legal knowledge and skills to advocate for those who needed it most, and to help ensure that the rights of refugees were protected. Tehmina Avagyan graduated from Yerevan State University with honors, getting Bachelor's Degree and then Master’s Degree in Law.
