After obtaining his Juris Doctorate, With Distinction, Matthew moved to Las Vegas and began his legal career at Alverson, Taylor, Mortensen & Sanders, one of Nevada’s largest insurance defense firms. There, his practice focused upon the defense of medical malpractice, negligence and wrongful death actions against physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, and transportation companies. Prior to joining Battle Born Injury Lawyers, Matthew worked as a partner at the law firm of Arin & Associates, P.C., where his practice focused exclusively upon Plaintiff’s personal injury claims. Matthew is active in a number of professional organizations, including the Clark County Bar Association, Nevada Justice Association, and Citizens for Justice. Matthew is also active with his children’s educational and extra-curricular activities, serving on the Board of Trustees for Journey Education, and he is a Certified Official for USA Swimming through Southern California Swimming and Sandpipers of Nevada. Matthew was named one of the top 150 lawyers in Southern Nevada by Nevada Business Journal and was recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013, and as a Nevada SuperLawyer in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Area of Practice: Employment Discrimination/Wage Hour/Real Estate Litigation/Small Business Litigation Don has been a member of the California Bar Association and a civil litigation attorney since 1983. He served as an officer with the Highway Patrol Division of the Arizona Department of Public Safety for eight years. While there, Don began his undergraduate education. He later returned to school full time to complete his undergraduate education and pursue a legal career. Don earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona at Tucson in 1979 and received his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in San Diego in 1982. Don is also a veteran, having served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. Upon graduation and receiving his license from the State Bar of California, Don worked for General Electric for a period of time. He then began his independent practice as a civil litigation and insurance defense attorney in San Diego. Don's practice expanded from his initial work in construction defect, personal injury and litigation defense into a more general civil litigation practice representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He represents individuals and business entities, including sole proprietorships, general and limited partnerships, and corporate clients, before state and federal courts in a wide array of civil litigation such as business and corporate litigation; real estate litigation; domestic, labor and discrimination cases; contract litigation; and construction defect and mold litigation. He has successfully represented individuals and business entities in a wide array of administrative matters before municipal, county, state and federal agencies and boards as well as state and federal administrative courts, including matters relating to professional licensing and credentialing. During his extensive years of practice, Don has represented hundreds of individuals and business entities in simple and complex litigation in hearings and arbitrations and at trial. He has tried cases before state courts, United States District Courts, state and federal administrative courts, and administrative agencies throughout California. Don has argued cases before the 4th District Court of Appeal and United States Court of Appeal. Don is a member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association (ABA), the San Diego County Bar Association, and the Riverside County and Desert bar associations. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and Consumer Attorneys of California. He has presented seminars on behalf of and before many professional organizations in various fields, including real estate and labor.

Just before I retired from the Navy here in Virginia, I enrolled in law school at Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach on the G.I. Bill. I had planned and waited for this day for nearly 20 years. Steven Holinstat is a senior counsel in the Litigation Department. Over the past two decades, he has handled complex, high-profile litigations that have resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in recoveries. The latter include a nine-figure settlement in the bankruptcy of Ocala Funding, LCC, in which Steve was the lead litigator in a series of fraudulent conveyance cases involving one of the largest frauds in the history of the residential mortgage industry. Steve has a broad and diverse background in all aspects of high-stakes commercial litigation and is one of the firm’s principal fiduciary litigators. His significant victories include defeating, on summary judgment, objections to the probate of a $70 million estate, which preserved the decedent’s desire to leave his estate to charity. Steve also is the lead litigator in a number of high-net-worth trust and estate matters, and has developed a reputation for being adept at intervening and resolving challenging interfamily disputes before they escalate into full-blown litigation. When litigation is unavoidable, Steve is an aggressive and experienced trial lawyer. He has handled cases before federal and state courts around the country and numerous arbitrations before JAMS, the American Arbitration Association, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (formerly the National Association of Securities Dealers, or NASD) and the International Chamber of Commerce.
