James was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. James graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1988 with a degree in business administration, specializing in finance. James then went on to attend and graduate from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California. While in law school, James interned for both a federal bankruptcy judge in Los Angeles and the Texas Supreme Court. After graduating from Pepperdine, James moved to Houston and founded The Heston Law Firm, a consumer law firm concentrating in bankruptcy. James is a proud member of both the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and the Houston Association of Debtor’s Attorneys and the Bankruptcy Law Sections of both the American Bar Association and the Texas Bar. In 2006, James expanded the focus of the firm from just bankruptcy law to its current, much broader orientation of debt relief law. In his career as a debt relief lawyer, James has helped over 10,000 Texans resolve their debts either through bankruptcy, debt settlement, or debt lawsuit defense.

A Birmingham native, Ethan’s practice has an emphasis on construction defect litigation and insurance company disputes. In addition to construction defect claims, Ethan handles a wide variety of civil matters including, personal injury, insurance claims, products liability, termite litigation and claims against companies providing home inspection services. Ethan has significant trial experience with numerous successful jury verdicts across the state of Alabama. Ethan is active in both local and state bars, and has served as Vice President on the Junior Board for Smile-A-Mile. Ethan is a graduate from The University of Alabama and Alabama School of law. Following law school, Ethan worked for a large Birmingham firm where he focused with Antitrust and Cybersecurity practice groups specializing in Multidistrict Class Action Litigation before joining Edge Lawyers in 2016. Outside of work, Ethan enjoys cooking and spending time with his family, friends and his dog, Case.

John H. (Jack) Hickey started his career at a large law firm representing cruise lines, railroads, and other self- insured corporations. He switched sides and for the last 22 years has represented only Plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death. Hickey is a member of the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar, the body which licenses and regulates all lawyers who practice in Florida. He is a Past President of the Dade County Bar Association, the largest voluntary bar association in Florida. Hickey is Board Certified in Admiralty and Maritime Law (by The Florida Bar) and Civil Trial (by The Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocacy). He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Florida Justice Association (FJA) and a State Delegate of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). Jack is also the Chair of the Motor Vehicle, Highway Safety, and Premises Liability Section of AAJ.
