Ms. Athanasakis joined RLG Law after serving as an Associate at Columbus Community Legal Services in Washington, DC. There, she represented refugees and advocated for clients in obtaining visas through the Humanitarian Parole Petition and in deportation proceedings. Prior to this role, she was a Summer Associate with global firm Integreon, where she worked in the business litigation unit. During the course of completing her education, Ms. Athanasakis was a Summer Associate, Law Clerk and Intern with RLG Law, where she was a valued member of our team over several years. Ms. Athanasakis received her Juris Doctor degree from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. During her law school career she worked in the School’s clinic. She also attended The Catholic University of America for undergraduate studies, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree. During this time, she was an active member of the Pre-Law Society, serving as Vice President.

Carmen E. Atkins represents clients in all areas of immigration law, including removal proceedings before the Immigration Court. She also has extensive experience with family-based petitions, applications for residency, asylum applications, and applications for citizenship. Ms. Atkins also represents clients with employment and investment-based immigration cases. Ms. Atkins is deeply committed to advancing immigrants’ rights. In practice, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees recognized her work with the 2016 1st and 2nd Place Judgment Award, awarded to the most progressive immigrants’ rights judgments in the American continents, for her constitutional actions against the State of Ecuador, which forced Ecuador to restore international refugee law into their domestic law. Ms. Atkins earned her Juris Doctor from University of California at Berkeley where she was awarded the Brian M. Sax prize for excellence in clinical advocacy, given to the student with the most outstanding performance among the law school’s clinics. Ms. Atkins was recognized for her tireless work before the Inter-American Human Rights System, which held the State of Guatemala accountable for over 100 victims of forced disappearance in the context of Jose Miguel Gudiel Alvarez et al. vs. Guatemala. Prior to that, Ms. Atkins earned her Bachelor’s of Science Degree at Cornell University, where she was consistently on the Dean’s List and was accepted to the Ye Hosts Honor Society, composed of Cornell Hotel School students selected from the top ten percent of their class. Ms. Atkins is Peruvian and Nicaraguan and is fluent in Spanish and English. She also speaks Italian, French, and Portuguese.

Raun Atkinson grew up in Oregon, spending most of his time split between Redmond and Portland Oregon. After graduating from Grant High School in Portland, Raun enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his four years of active duty, Raun was stationed in Iwakuni Japan, Camp Pendleton California and spent one year with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit during which time the unit deployed to Iraq. Shortly after returning from Iraq, Raun was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant to pursue his education. Raun completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from University of Houston before attending and graduating from Willamette University College of Law. After passing the bar in 2014 Raun took a job as a prosecutor in Crook County Oregon where he remained until January of 2021.
